Food insecurity remains one of the most pressing challenges facing underserved families across the United States. Millions of households struggle each day to put nutritious food on the table — not because food resources don’t exist, but because finding and accessing those resources can be overwhelming and complex.

That’s why Able Community created FoodHC — a mobile app designed to bridge the gap between families in need and the food resiliency resources available in their area.

The Challenge: Families Don’t Know What’s Available

Many families who qualify for food assistance programs don’t know where to start. Food pantries, distribution events, SNAP enrollment sites, and local food banks are often scattered across different organizations, with no single place to find them all. This fragmentation means families may go without even when help is nearby.

Able Community recognized this barrier and set out to solve it — with technology designed for real families.

FoodHC: Food Resiliency in Your Pocket

FoodHC gives families a simple, easy-to-use mobile tool to locate food resources near them. With FoodHC, users can:

  • Find nearby food pantries, food banks, and distribution events
  • Access information about grocery assistance programs
  • Get real-time updates on food distribution schedules in their area
  • Connect with volunteer opportunities and community support programs

The app is designed to be accessible to all — regardless of language, technical experience, or income level.

Community Impact: Building Food Resiliency Together

FoodHC is more than just an app. It’s a reflection of Able Community’s belief that every family deserves access to nutritious food — and that communities grow stronger when they take care of one another.

Through FoodHC and our food distribution programs, Able Community has worked to connect underserved families with the resources they need to build long-term food resiliency. We partner with local food banks, faith organizations, schools, and nonprofits to ensure our community’s most vulnerable members are never left behind.
